Suzanne Marie nodded away to fuzzy visions of Rampboro's main drag. Luke swerved too late as the bucket seat jostled Suzie awake while thumping over another waywardly stray feline. Cat's Pass gravel-and-mud shortcut for locals fed many a mountain cougar scrounging for an easy meal. Over the ridge, as treetrunks and branchleaves cleared, the cozy cradle of Jackalope Hollow homes appeared under single lane Donner Bridge leading them out toward Cast Mountain's Standoff Peak. Mare tugged the hood of her sister's Marine camping parka up as October's sharp winds whistled and wheezed in over dried and cracked, stiffly-stuffed black leather upholstery from the driver's angled side-window.

"Close the freeking window!" Suzie demanded as one grimey hand clamped the hood close onto her throbbing head.

The handle jammed as Luke gunned the jalopy toward the Peak's lookout camp-and-park.

After the railing buckled, Marie floated in the freefall to fix her gaze on Luke's face one last parting time.

"The way of the Cross is not easy, yet it is the tuneful, the rhythmic, the beautiful, the lovely way."
